I actually like doing laundry. Especially folding all of the cute and colorful kids clothing. Pajamas and underwears are my favorites.
I know it goes against the flow of popular blog topics to rant about but I’ve always appreciated doing laundry, even when it was just Jason and me. I would imagine him wearing each article and be thankful that I could make it clean and fresh for him.
I like to be thankful for all the clothes we have to wear and all the dishes we have to wash because that means we have food to eat. Even cleaning the house we can be thankful for a place to live and for all the things in it that we own. All of that on top of all the special people that wear the clothes, eat the food, and live there, too. Thank you, God, for all that bless us with.
At risk of sounding to sappy, I stopped short of explaining how thankful I am to have clothes—particularly for these kids. Ali arrived at our house as an infant with a big bag of clothing which is so rare in foster care and I was extremely grateful. We’ve also been blessed to receive lots of hand-me-downs from friends for both kids. Buzz’s mom just gave him 5 new outfits and a new pair of shoes on Saturday. It seems like the only things I ever actually NEED to buy them are socks and underwear.
I love doing laundry, too! I don’t have any deep thoughts about it, I just think it is easiest chore that there is. I also love doing dishes now that we have a dishwasher after over a decade without one.
Laundry is one of my most dreaded chores. Today I will tackle it with a new light. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
