Tour – Old

Updated October 2011.

Jason and I lived in this 1420 sq. ft. 3 bedroom 2 bath home from February 2007-February 2012. We absolutely loved it, put lots of love and sweat equity into it, and never planned to move. But when we felt called to become foster parents and the opportunity to build a new home—with more bedrooms for more kids—arose, we said goodbye to our beloved mid-century modern ranch. Of course, it’s just around the corner so we can still say hello to it from time to time. Take a look at how it looked before we moved out…

Looking for a MCM in the ‘Boro just south of you guys! LOOOOOVE this place! I see your selling and kinda wish I wanted to change towns :(
Your ideas for this home have inspired me to shift my search from a 50′s/60′s split level to a single story atomic ranch like this one. Thank you!

  5. Beth Bates says:

What did you end up going with for the bathroom color? Also, what’s that color in the cloffice? (like the name “cloffice,” btw.)

    • mahlbrandt says:

We chose Contented, though I still would have preferred Window Pane. It was a compromise. I don’t know the name of the color in my cloffice, unfortunately. It was paint that was left over from my office (where I work when I’m not at home) and the can wasn’t labeled.

  6. Holly says:

Great job on the home…! hi there! Was wondering where you purchased your towel holder?

    • mahlbrandt says:

I’m assuming you mean in the master bathroom. It’s GRUNDTAL from IKEA. I love that it doesn’t take up much space but can hold 4 towels. I’m planning to get 2 for our new house.

  7. Richard says:

and a few years later…Was just curious about your experience with the painted brick? How it’s holding up, etc. I have a mcm home in Dallas and am debating painting the brick but am being overly cautious as usual. It looks fantastic by the way! LOVE the color y’all chose.

    • mahlbrandt says:

Richard, it has held up wonderfully. We have many painted brick homes and businesses in our area and I haven’t seen any with problems. We used Behr exterior paint and primer combo.
